ABOUT ME:
I am an ecologist who is interested in how plant and microbes interact to affect biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem function. I use greenhouse studies, field experiments, DNA sequencing, and quantitative analyses to probe how the environment (soil nutrient, water, and/or light availability) influence how plants interact with other organisms and the implications this has for forest function and global change. I am Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute with the Zalamea Lab at the University of South Florida studying seed-fungal interactions in tropical forests. Previously, I was a NOAA Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Arnold Arboretum in the Taylor Lab. This project is examining and quantifying the effect tropical forest canopy gaps have on symbiotic nitrogen fixation at the landscape-scale and the implications this process has on Earth System Models. I am passionate about creating an inclusive and innovative space to do science for everyone.
